Money (2017) – Oil and Varnish on Fiberglass
“MY MONEY IS BEAUTIFUL” — Money is not a polite picture for “pretty walls.”
The work demands a position: it shifts the conversation from price to value — and from value back to the body, to presence, to self-determination.
Khanya works in a field of tension shaped by contrasts and contradictions. In her practice, controlled decisions and the permission of chance meet:
varnish finds its own routes, leaves traces, breaks open, reorganizes itself — and once it has dried, it remains final.
Materiality
The combination of oil and varnish on fiberglass creates a particular depth: light meets a surface that refuses to be “softly painterly”
and instead insists on physical presence. The reduced palette of red, black, and white runs through the work as a deliberate code,
sharpening the eye for detail, texture, and edge.
For Collectors
Money belongs in spaces that can take it: clear architecture, curated interiors, and collections with a contemporary stance.
If you are looking for a work that does not appease, but brings conversation and energy into a room, this is a strong choice.
